Banapple Pies & Cheesecakes with my BFFs

Me and my childhood bestfriends had some catching up to do last December. We scheduled our meeting at the mall so we can talk over some coffee and good food. We seldom see each other now that we have our own families to take care of, so we make sure to spend as much quality time whenever we’re together.

Banapple Pies & Cheesecakes seemed to be the perfect place. It is a bakery-cafe that serves pies & cheesecakes, savory pies, pastries, hot dishes, and coffee.

Banapple is usually jam-packed even during off-peak hours. We waited about 10 minutes before we were given a table. Long lines aren’t so bad especially if the food is worth waiting for.

The cozy (almost homey) ambiance reflected the food served before us — homemade and heavenly. They have large portion sizes so make sure you go there with an empty stomach.

Sorry for the photo’s angle, LOL.

J ordered Cappuccino and Trio of Sausages Fettucine. It’s protein-packed and favored by meat lovers. It has crumbled chorizo, garlic longganisa, and hungarian sausage, all tossed in garlic and parmesan cheese. The sauce is light (I prefer heavy sauces) but the dish turned out to be so good.

I asked for one of their bestsellers and got the Lasagna Roll-Ups. Each roll has a generous filling of herbed cream and parmesan cheese. I love the creamy surprise inside the rolled-up lasagna sheets. Smothered with their classic tomato meat sauce and mozarella cheese, this pasta dish really hits the spot.

The herbed bread on the side is soft and chewy and comforting.

C is fond of desserts. She ordered a slice of Maple Pecan & Candied Bacon Cheesecake. It’s such a weird combination but it worked. The maple-flavored cheesecake matches the sweet and savory candied bacon bits on top.

We’ve known each other for years. We don’t communicate and update each other about our lives as often as we should but we’re the best of friends. And they’re special because even without their presence you know that they’re there to support you, sympathize with you, and even reprimand you without hesitation. I can’t wait to have another coffee date with them! Ü

Serious catch-up time + good food is usually our main game. Too bad one of our bestfriends was missing in the scene. See you soon, I!
