Easily Learn Calculus with the Best Calculus Apps

Calculus can be quite intimidating if you are new to the subject, but the truth is that after you learn the basics, it turns out that it isn’t too bad after all. The trick is to learn calculus in small and digestible lessons so that you can easily understand basic concepts without feeling overwhelmed.

When I first started learning calculus, I relied heavily on my calculus book. However, reading book chapters over and over to understand new content felt more like a chore than anything else. So, instead of relying on books, I decided to find the best apps for learning calculus for a more interactive and attractive way to learn the subject. Rather than downloading random apps from the Google Play store, which is not the most helpful when it comes to narrowing down the best apps, I preferred to use a site I found recently that has a list of the best 10 calculus apps.

Easily Learn Calculus with the Best Calculus Apps

Best 10 Apps for Calculus

After taking a quick look at some of the key aspects for each app on their list, I tested out the ones that I found to be the best. Here are my thoughts on my top 3 favorites.

Khan Academy – Lessons for calculus and any other subject

My first pick, Khan Academy, is more than just a calculus learning app. It actually has lessons for a variety of courses including calculus, finance, history, biology, chemistry, and more. What I really like about it is that you can find video lessons for any calculus topic. So, if you are looking for an alternative to reading your calculus textbook, then this is a great choice for you. I also like that you can complete practice calculus problems and get instant feedback on your answers. And, last but not least, I like how you can access lessons offline so you can learn calculus anytime, anywhere.

While it didn’t happen too often, I did find that sometimes the video lessons would not load properly. I found a way around the issue by quickly restarting the app. The developers are reportedly working on a fix, so we should expect it to roll out soon.

Photomath – Step-by-step solutions to calculus problems

Photomath is my second pick. I found it to be a great choice if you need help solving a calculus problem. The neat thing about it is that you can take a picture of the problem, and the app will automatically analyze it and arrive at a solution. I liked how it walks you through the solution to calculus problems step-by-step, so you can easily understand how they are solved. It will show you everything from the basic calculus formulas that are used to solve them, to a visual representation of the solution.

Unlike my first pick, Photomath doesn’t have calculus lessons. Instead, it is an ideal choice for getting help in solving a calculus problem. Just keep in mind to use it only when you are stuck with a problem, and not to solve every problem for you!

Desmos Graphing Calculator – Graph any calculus formula

My third pick is Desmos Graphing Calculator. This is a must for anyone studying calculus as you can easily graph any equation to instantly visualize the solution. I particularly like how easy it is to input equations as you can adjust equation variables using sliders. I also like how you can generate a graph from a data table, or how you can generate output to a table from an equation too. Another plus is that you can graph multiple equations on the same graph. In fact, supposedly there is no limit to how many you can plot at once!

Unlike my first two picks, Desmos Graphing Calculator does not provide insight into how calculus problems are solved. However, I found it to be an excellent tool for graphing calculus equations. So, if you are studying calculus, this is a must!

Conclusion

That’s it! These are my top 3 favorite apps for learning calculus. They each have unique features, so it comes down to your needs and preferences. I particularly like Khan Academy as I also find myself checking out video lessons for other subjects. But the truth is that the other ones are also great, and you will easily learn calculus no matter which one you pick!
