Starting 6 months of age, I want my baby boy to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible and I want him to try a variety of flavors. But as a working mom, I don’t have the luxury of time to prepare food for my baby during weekdays.

I’m just glad that Gerber baby food products are available in the supermarket. For now, I purchase “Gerber 1st Foods” for babies 6-12 months old. Each bottle costs around Php 50.

Carrots are color orange because they are rich in beta-carotene. They also contain high levels of dietary fiber, antioxidants, and minerals. But it’s still best to give your child chopped carrot pieces (cooked or uncooked). Broccoli is high in vitamins C, K, and A. It also has dietary fiber to help your child’s digestive system function properly. Plus, it also contains nutrients with anti-cancer properties. The Gerber Broccoli smells a bit awful but it’s definitely nutritious. I used to eat a lot of broccoli when I was pregnant because according to a parenting magazine, broccoli is high in folic acid.

Prunes are natural laxatives and dietary fibers that help relieve constipation. But I’m wondering why whenever I give this to my baby, he easily gets constipated. Squash contains manganese (helps the body process many of the key nutrients such as biotin, fats, carbohydrates, and glucose), Vitamin C, magnesium (contributes to healthy bones and nerve function), Vitamin A, dietary fiber, potassium (controls fluid balances and provides muscle energy, folate, Vitamin K, and phosphorus.

Pears are rich in Vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. The foliate in pear prevents neural tube defects in infants. Bananas contain Vitamin C, potassium, Vitamin B6, and dietary fiber. They also give an instant and substantial boost of energy and do not contain sodium, fat or cholesterol.
