Stir-Fried Squid with Bell Peppers

Honestly, I only know how to cook two dishes using squid: Adobong Pusit and Grilled Squid. Being a kitchen newbie, I’m trying to master simple recipes and basic flavors first before going to the intermediate level. This Stir-Fried Squid with Bell Peppers is a Mama Sita’s recipe. From now on, Oyster Sauce will be part of my pantry staples. With it, I can cook a myriad of quick and easy dishes for my family regularly.

Tip: Grilling the bell peppers first will give the dish a hint of smoky flavor. 🙂

Stir-Fried Squid with Bell Peppers

6 pieces (or half kilo) squid (cleaned, ink removed and chopped into rings)
4 tbsps Mama Sita’s Oyster Sauce
2 tbsps cooking oil
2-3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1 pc onion, sliced
2 pcs red and green bell peppers, thinly sliced
1/4 to 1/2 cup water
1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tbsp water

  1. Marinate squid in Mama Sita’s Oyster Sauce for 10 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a wok, heat cooking oil then saute garlic and onion. Add bell peppers and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the marinated squid and cook for a few minutes. Don’t overcook.
  4. Pour in the dissolved cornstarch and wait until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve immediately.
