Being the capital of New South Wales and one of Australia’s largest cities, Sydney has a lot to offer. But if you’re strapped for time, what are the things you do must do and see in Sydney? Here is a brief list of my top 5 things.

Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

The Bondi to Coogee walk is a must do when coming to Sydney. If not for the stunning scenery, do it for the daily step count! Start at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Icebergs swimming club, where surf washes into the Bondi Baths, and finish at Coogee Pavilion and enjoy a cold drink. The cliff top coastal walk snakes for 6km and features stunning views, beaches, cliffs, bays, rock pools and parks. There are plenty of places to eat, grab a coffee, and have a picnic. Allow 1-2 hours to complete.

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks and one of the 20th century’s most famous and distinctive buildings. The modern multi-venue performing arts centre has something for everyone, hosting over 40 shows a week. The building and its surrounds occupy the whole of Bennelong Point on Sydney Harbour, making it an amazing subject for a photo. Top tip: head to Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair just before sunset to get stunning photos of the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.

Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo

One of Sydney’s most famous attractions, the award-winning Taronga Zoo is just a 15-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay. It is home to over 4,000 animals of 350 species, including Australian native wildlife, as well as rare and endangered exotic animals. See Kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, a wide variety of birds, and native reptiles, such as snakes, turtles and frogs. Admission includes daily keeper talks and shows, and access to the Sky Safari, Sydney’s only cable car.

Luna Park

Luna Park

Located just over the Harbour Bridge on the northern shore in Milson’s Point, sits Sydney’s most iconic amusement park. Luna Park, famous for its giant art-deco smiling face entrance, is a place which makes visitors feel like they’ve stepped back in time. There’s something for the whole family. Have a go on wild rides like the Tango Train or nostalgic favourites such as the beautifully restored Ferris Wheel. Try your luck on the hilarious sideshow games and win a fun prize. You’ll find all the carnival favourites such as hot dogs, candy floss, ice-creams and more. If you need something filling and a cold drink, pop into The Deck, where you can take in the spectacular harbour views.

Visit Chinatown

Visit Chinatown

Sydney’s Chinatown is a colourful mixture of Asian culture, shopping, and cuisine. The area’s distinctly oriental architecture, street lanterns and archways confirm it as a showpiece for Australian Chinese culture. It has a wide range of tasty and reasonably priced food that’s guaranteed to satisfy your hunger. Find some souvenirs for the home in the busy markets, open Wednesday to Sunday.
