“With its beautiful natural landscapes and well-maintained trails, Ancaster offers an array of running routes that combine scenic beauty with challenging terrain,” says Stephen Gleave, an Ancaster resident and passionate runner.

If you prefer a flat and straightforward running route, the Rail Trail is hard to beat.

This former railway line converted into a multi-use trail offers a peaceful and scenic path for runners of all levels. The Rail Trail spans approximately 32 kilometers, connecting Ancaster to Hamilton and providing an accessible and safe running route. Enjoy the picturesque views of the surrounding countryside, pass through charming small towns, and revel in the tranquility of this well-maintained trail.

 

Bruce Trail

Stretching over 890 kilometers across Ontario, the Bruce Trail offers sections near Ancaster that are perfect for runners seeking both adventure and natural beauty.

One popular stretch is the Dundas Valley section, which showcases the stunning Niagara Escarpment and its breathtaking waterfalls. Lace Falls Loop, a 9-kilometer trail, takes runners through a combination of forested areas and open meadows, providing a diverse and captivating running experience.

“There’s several beautiful waterfalls on this one, like Tew Falls and Webster Falls,” Gleave said. “This is one of my absolute favorites and it never gets old.”

 

Tiffany Falls Loop

For a shorter yet captivating run, the Tiffany Falls Loop is a must-try route near Ancaster. This 4-kilometer loop trail is known for its stunning waterfall views, with Tiffany Falls as the highlight.

Ancaster Community Centre Track
