My Stardew Valley Farmhouse Design: 1.6 Update, No Mods

I finally finished designing my Stardew Valley farmhouse after years (or almost a decade!) of playing. I did try designing it before, but I guess I did it haphazardly.

This time, I took my time deciding on what stuff to place in each room and make the farmhouse the ‘house of my dreams’ in real life.

Stardew Valley Farmhouse Interior Design Layout Ideas

The Entrance Room – Living Room Area

I wanted this room to feel like I’m in a hotel lobby, so I included luxurious-looking items and kept the color scheme warm and festive – browns, oranges, and reds.

Key Items: coat stand, telephone, elegant fireplace, large brown couch, gold pillar, wall clock, retro cushion, red rug, winter banner, l. light string, junimo stool, red cottage rug, statue of endless fortune

The Cubby

I originally made the cubby as a small area for my pets, but I found this design online, a cute tailoring area, and went with it. It’s perfect because my mom is a dressmaker, so I want to honor her by turning the cubby into a small sewing studio complete with dressed mannequins and a sewing machine.

Key Items: sewing machine, retro cabinet, cloth, loom, mannequin, retro stool, seasonal plant, retro mat

The Dining Room and The Kitchen

The dining room is a multi-level room, with the illusion of a balcony. I used wood fences, outdoor-themed wallpaper, and jungle decals for that outdoor balcony illusion. I also added the large aquarium to match the dining table – aquarium restaurant style.

I can’t think of anything to make of the little corner, so I turned it into a resting area slash transition area after farm work.

Key Items: bountiful dining table, groovy chair, aquatic sanctuary, tree column, hardwood fence, jungle decal, ceiling leaves, small plant, decorative door, cactus, ginger ale, decorative pitchfork, candle lamp, yellow armchair, weathered floor

For the kitchen, I got inspired by a layout from Pinterest. It features a kitchen island and a partition near the entrance going to the cellar. I personalized mine by adding a pizza furnace, a bookcase for recipe books, a corn plant + oil maker, a storage area (mini fridge), a row of tea shrubs, and a corner to remind everyone to ‘take your daily vitamin’.

Key Items: leafy wall panel, log panel, little tree, hardwood fence, desert fireplace, woodcut rug, tall house plant, qi seasoning, queen of sauce cookbook, blue stool, coffee maker, coffee table, nautical rug, oil maker, junimo bookcase, blue diner chair, large retro rug, mini-fridge, energy tonic, muscle remedy, big stone chest, garden pot, tea sapling wood floor, brick floor

Designing Tip: Add plants! Whenever you feel like you still have a lot of empty spaces in your room, just add more plants.

Entertainment Room / Boys Room

I have two teenage boys, so I know what a boy cave or a man cave should look like. Comics, video games, geek/nerd stuff.. I’m just missing a personal computer and a gaming console. Can we get those for the 1.7 update, please! Sebby will be happy.

Key Items: starship, wall sconce, plasma tv, spires, dark bookcase, stardew hero trophy, swamp plant, dark couch, joja cola tea table, prairie king arcade system, joja furniture catalogue, sam’s skateboard, ??HMTGF??, ??Foroguemon??, rarecrow, strange doll, funky rug, black cushion, small book pile, red sleeping junimo, monster rug, starport decal, dark rug

Kids Bedroom

For the kids’ room, I featured plushies and toys, personal shelves on each side of their beds, and a homeschooling corner.

Key Items: wallflower pal, modern bookcase, little photos, VGA paradise, junimo star, the muzzamaroo, cloud decal, artist bookcase, small book stack, bamboo mat, child bed, birch lamp end table, oak lamp end table, patchwork rug, small junimo plush, futan bear, junimo plush, plush bunny, futan rabbit, fairy box, yellow armchair, book stack, puzzle table

The Attic

I found this balcony-illusion design on Reddit and tweaked it to create a retro-themed music lounge. I used wood flooring and log panels for the illusion of a raised platform, then an iron fence for the balcony railings. I used a starry night wallpaper plus jungle decals/ceiling leaves for that outdoorsy/height illusion, but you can always use another wallpaper, like the purple sunset, for example. The music room is perfect for chilling.

ConcernedApe hasn’t added guitars yet, so I used Sam’s old guitar (a weapon) to display on the stone sign. I might also replace the retro fireplace with the retro TV once I get it from the Desert Festival.

Key Items: night sky decal, jungle decals, iron fence, retro fireplace, upright piano, log panel, retro square rug, ornate lamp, spirits table, retro couch, retro radio, retro plant, retro lamp, jukebox, Sam’s old guitar, retro flower, floor divider, rustic plank floor, flute block, retro tea table, retro cushion

Spouse Room, Bedroom, and Southern Room

My original bedroom design was purple-themed, hence the purple carpet, but when I married Sebastian, I thought of matching his room with my own workspace, since I can’t rearrange any of his stuff. I think I succeeded because Sebby’s room doesn’t look out of place now.

Items added to Sebastian’s room: obsidian vase, globe, brown book, plastic sapling, modern lamp, junimo stool

I found this elevated bedroom design / raised platform on Instagram and tried it myself, but instead of a bed, I placed a bulletin board and catalogues to make it look like a small office. I also placed the jungle tank in front of my work station to perfect the illusion of an elevated area. And also, the jungle tank complements his frog terrarium.

The two corners are set up for winding down after work – the wine area is for Sebby and the pink couch is for me.

Key Items: calendar, indoor hanging basket, bulletin board, brochure cabinet, retro catalogue, furniture catalogue, catalogue, junimo bundle, plastic plant, jungle tank, triple espresso

The bedroom matches his room and matches my aesthetic as well. I opted for a balance of masculine and feminine, since we both share this bedroom. I added our portraits and stuff that showcase our union.

I always wanted to have a shower room, but since I am not using any mods, I have to get creative with what I have. To make this cute bathtub, use the crystal flooring, then place the oceanic rug and sprinkler on top. And then I used box lamps for privacy.

Key Items: modern rug, blue pinstripe double bed, sebastian portrait, the zuzu city express, birch dresser, birch lamp end table, retro plant, small crystal, friendship 101, elvish jewelry, futan rabbit, box lamp, clam, cloth, mystic syrup, dried sunflowers, wall sconce, oceanic rug, sprinkler, jungle decals

Expanded Corner Room – Relaxation Area

The 1.6 update allowed an expanded corner room, and I couldn’t be happier! My corner room was originally a night-themed balcony, but now that I have more space, I have turned it into a relaxation area where I can meditate, relax in a hot tub, read books, drink tea, and connect with nature. In a nutshell, a space for my daily quiet time.

It doesn’t make sense that the meditation room is next to the kids’ room, but it is what it is, LOL. I want a Japanese-inspired zen room for meditation and yoga, so bonsai trees and tatami are perfect in there.

Key Items:  jade hills extended, gourmand statue, bonsai tree, leafy wall panel, junimo tree, junimo cushion, wood floor

Mini library x Tea Room: I am a bookworm, so it would be a mortal sin if I didn’t make a library inside my farmhouse. I thought of a room filled with bookshelves, but I think this is better. The book pile, the squirrel, and the tea table are cute additions to the area.

Key Items: Leah’s sculpture, luxury bookcase, large book pile, fallen purple book, squirrel figurine, deluxe tree, junimo tree, junimo couch, junimo tea table, country lamp, jungle decal, hardwood fence

Designing Tip: Layering. Try lining up multiple items together to create illusions or create a whole new different item. Check what I did with the junimo couch + junimo tree + deluxe tree.

Spa – Hot tub / Pool Illusion: Get an icy rug, surround it with wood flooring (or grass – also works, but it will look more like a pond), then add plants. I also added an open-window illusion (for that overlooking view slash infinity pool vibe) by using a clear sky wallpaper decorated with ceiling leaves.

Key Items: icy rug, wood floor, decorative lantern, stone frog, retro mat, ceiling leaves, house plant
