Be Amazed by the Grand China Acrobatic Circus at Smart Araneta Coliseum

#TheGrandAcrobaticCircusAtTheBigDome

As a holiday treat for Z, we watched the Grand China Acrobatic Circus at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last December 24. We were invited by Mommy Lani of TweenselMom.com and Mommy Bloggers Philippines and it was such a one-of-a-kind show perfect for all Filipino families this holiday season.

We arrived in Araneta Center a couple of hours before the show, so we had our lunch first before meeting with my fellow mommy bloggers. Super excited si Z gusto na kaagad pumasok but I told him dapat sabay-sabay kaming lahat. 🙂

It wasn’t our first time to watch an acrobatic show but his first was a fun experience so he wanted a similar experience, pero unique pa rin since the acts, theme, and performers are different.

The Grand China Acrobatic Circus Performers and their Acts

The Grand China Acrobatic Circus is performed by multi-awarded Chinese acrobats from Beijing, China. They have been in a lot of competitions and now their world-class talents will be witnessed by the Filipinos.

1. Gorgeous Girls with Diabolo (Chinese Yo-yo)

Performed by Peking Opera’s Huadan (Heroine), they gave a beautiful dance choreography and showcased amazing diabolo techniques and dances. We were all in awe whenever they would throw and catch their yo-yos. This is our most favorite part of the show. 🙂

Awards:
President Award of the 26th International Circus Festival of Tomorrow, France
Golden Clown Award of the 37th International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo
Gold Award of the 12th Budapest Festival in Hungary
Gold Award of the 1st International Festival of Circus Art on Fontanka in St. Petersburg

2. Plate Spin

A song and dance number while balancing and spinning 10 plates in their hands. And they balance on each others’ bodies pa while balancing the plates. Definitely mind-blowing!

Award:
Golden Lion Award at the 4th China National Acrobatic Festival

3. Chinese Red (Bicycle Skill)

The first act of the show and my favorite part was when all the performers was on the moving bicycle. Truly a breathtaking scene!

4. Rose Bud (Contortionist)

Amazing performance as a mythical fox by a contortion artist.

5. The Ninth Wave (Skills on Poles)

Inspired by the famous Russian painter Ivan Aivazovsky and his work depicting soldiers braving the angry ocean. But I saw them as sailors trying to brave the storm. Their pole stunts were really entertaining.

Awards:
Golden Chrysanthemum Award of the 10th Chinese Acrobatics Competition
Golden Tiger Award of the 4th China International Circus Art Festival
Special Award and Silver Clown Award of the 43rd International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo

6. Holy Warriors (Stunts through Hoops)

Tumbling through hoops and doing somersaults — my son kept on shouting because they were good! When the height of the hoops tripled and they did their jumps successfully, WOW.

Award:
Golden Clown Award of the 37th International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo

7. Lotus (Umbrella Juggling)

Balancing and juggling not one but more than two umbrellas, with your feet, and holding them there for minutes? Awesome talent.

8. Ball Catching

Juggling a number of balls in your hands while dancing and going up and down the stairs. Ang galing!
