Manila Zoo: Kinder Zoo Adventure Jungle

Manila Zoo PH

My husband was the one who planned our Manila Zoo visit. It’s located in Malate, so we had to take a few hours of travel time coming from Quezon City going to Manila.

I might have visited Manila Zoo before (hindi ko lang maalala) because it’s one of the oldest zoos in the country and in Asia. Anyway, it’s a good thing I could not remember, so mas excited akong pumunta with my family.

We paid PhP 100 each for the Manila Zoo entrance fee (only PhP 50 for Manilenyos, bring your valid IDs!) 🙂

Kinder Zoo Adventure Jungle: Interactive Zoo Facility

Kinder Zoo Adventure Jungle is Manila Zoo’s interactive zoological facility inside Manila Zoo wherein visitors can interact (pet, feed, and/or take photos) with exotic yet tamed animals.

At the entrance, we took pictures side by side with birds, a Caiman [crocodile], and a python.

My kids were a bit squeamish but not totally scared. With N’s condition, Autism, he’s indifferent towards animals and other creatures. My eldest, Z, is an animal lover and had been exposed to similar attractions & kiddie activities in the past. No traumatic encounters with wildlife, too, so they’re both at ease when they’re around animals.

We took home a large-sized photo from their official photographer, and yes, you have to pay for the photo with a minimal fee.

The Albino Burmese Python peed while I was holding it. Takot talaga ako sa slimy & crawly creatures, especially worms.. tapos umihi pa! Buti na lang sa gilid and not directly on me.  Also, I was really nervous that time ’cause I felt like the snake was going to strangle me any minute.

Albino Burmese pythons are not poisonous but they are constrictors (they can squeeze you to death), so it’s still advisable to handle them with caution.

There is a Kinder Zoo entrance fee of PhP 75 per person. We took photos of each animal inside the Kinder Zoo. It was a delight not only to take pictures but also to interact with the animals — Z rode on a horse, N met a cassowary, and we fed some birds. The pot-bellied pig was shy so nag-picture na lang siya. 🙂

In this particular outdoor family trip, we also enjoyed feeding the Sulcata Tortoises. From the deserts of Africa, these tortoises are the second largest tortoise species in the world. They are adorable to watch them eat together. The kids were also able to touch their shells carefully.

Macaws, hornbills, and cockatoos — these colorful birds really know how to pose! But I was worried kasi ang higpit ng grip nila sa braso ko hahaha.

Grass owls, on the other hand, seemed to be more gentle. They were casually perched in an area made for them, so we took the opportunity and take pictures with them sa background.

When you’re with the kids, hindi talaga pwedeng hindi kumain. 🙂 For those who get hungry all the time, there’s a cafeteria inside Manila Zoo. We ordered Silog Meals and C2.

Outside the Kinder Zoo

There are cows, ostriches, peacocks, hippopotamus (the oldest in the zoo), Bengal tigers, carabaos, and Maali, the Asian elephant.

Other Manila Zoo Activities

There are other activities you can do in Manila Zoo and one of those is Horseback Riding. It reminded me of the times when I used to visit Baguio frequently when I was in high school.

We won’t be visiting Manila Zoo again anytime soon, but if you haven’t been there, schedule your visit now! It’s an affordable yet enriching outdoor activity that you can do with the whole family. 🙂

‘Til our next family adventure! 🙂
