Pottery Painting Session at Color Me Mine, Taguig

I was recently invited by Color Me Mine, Taguig and Mommy Bloggers Philippines to join a pottery painting session. It’s definitely not my first time to paint, but it’s my second time painting on ceramic (first I guess was during the Gardenia Kiddie Workshop with Z).

So me and my fellow mommy bloggers had a 2-hr ceramic painting session and we all enjoyed getting artsy and having some quiet time for ourselves (no kids, haha!) I’m not as good as my two other siblings when it comes to art — they can do realistic digital paintings, portraits, and caricatures — but I am a creative soul and my choices, most of the time, show that I am. Nakokontra lang ng asawa kong minimalist, LOL.

We started with choosing a ceramic piece to paint on and I picked the bowl because I was thinking that I can use it for my tiny kalat (coins, trinkets, etc.) at home. Next, I picked a design from their album. Pwede rin naman na create your own. I was inspired by the ice cream with cone from their samples so I’m recreating it only with a bowl. The third step is choosing paint colors from the 25 color samples. They’ve given me a palette and they refill it if I need more color pa.

Finished ceramic pieces are normally chalky to the touch and the colors look subtle, but once they’ve been glazed and baked in an oven, the color comes out bolder and the finish — glossy and smooth. The plates and mugs can be used for eating once they’ve been glazed and fired, pwede rin sa microwave. 🙂

This special keepsake piece is for preserving memories. If you’re a new mom, you might consider getting and doing this. Ang cute diba? 🙂
